The holidays are over and now I can officially get back to the day to day real world.  I’m happy to do it.  The kids, well, uhh, not so much.  When I woke them yesterday Dylan asked when he could quit school. :P  I’m pleased to say that today went a little more smoothly.

Soooo catch up… Let’s see NYE I spent at the Fox Theater in Detroit with Denny and the Barenaked Ladies.  Fantastic, just fantastic.  The seats I was able to snag during fan club presale were in the fifth row.  *swoon*  The band played for ages and there was a balloon drop at midnight.  It was great, just great!

Earlier in the day we did our annual family bowling event with the Herbert family.  The kids had a good time and the adults all got together and complained about the economy and such.  Good times, lol.  I have no idea who won as all I could think about was Steven Page…. see above.

Hmmm, let’s see what else.  I haven’t scrapbooked anything outside of stuff for Michigan Scrapbooker.  Apparently Denny has taken notice as I caught a “it’s not like you scrapbook anymore” comment come out of his mouth the other day.  Maybe that is a sign I need to get back to it.  I’ll work on it right after I get the motivation to diet.  Believe it or not I need to diet even more than I need to scrapbook, lol.  As much as I know it in my head, someone really should tell the hand that keep forcing the ice cream covered spoons into my mouth.

The holiday season also reconnected me with an old friend, and no it wasn’t the ice cream.  You know who you are… nice talking to you again. :)

Spinner Update

  • Filed under:
Saturday
Nov 22,2008

I’ve been working on my photo spinner.  I started painting yesterday and then one thing lead to another.  It’s been an awful long time since I did a project for me so I’m sure that had something to do with getting so much done on it.  I need to go out and get some fringe trim for the edges and a couple other little things.  But I have part of the “main page” in the album nearly complete so I’m sharing how it looks so far.  Like I said… not done.

The quote is printed on this sticky bank canvas paper.  Another very cool Ranger product that I somehow knew nothing about!  I only found it in white, and I really wanted ivory, but oh well.  The paper is all Basic Grey Granola, chipboard is Scenic Route, and the pearl up at the top of the tab is something i had sitting here.  I might swap it out for some brown jewels I have sitting here.  I’m undecided.  Thoughts?

What’s new?

It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged.  I’d like to say I’ve been working on all sorts of stuff, but I can’t.  Just everyday life, which is why I haven’t posted.  I guess I just don’t have anything all that interesting to say.

Most of you know that Denny and I don’t have this big and exciting social life.  We aren’t party people, and Denny doesn’t really like to go out, so even if we didn’t have three kids, I’m not sure how much more exciting our life would be.  :P  That being said, I got an email early this week letting me know that Barenaked Ladies were going to be doing a show at the Fox on New Years Eve.  I happen to be a fan club member and I loyal BNL fan since their “debut” in the 80’s.  As a club member I got an invite to the ticket presale.  Yippee.  I called Denny and told him he was taking me, lol.  So yesterday I was able to get my tickets… very good tickets at that.  I’m geeked.

In other scrapping news, I’m going to start working on a project that Michelle turned me on to.  Ali Edwards is doing a class at Big Picture using the 7gypsies Photo Carousel.  Well the kit was 100.00!!  On top of that, it didn’t include everything you needed.  With the price tag so high, I told Michelle we could do it ourselves at half of the cost if I ordered everything.  So, I have the stuff here, and I might just start working on it.  I cleaned up my office a bit this morning, so now that I can see the counter I don’t have much excuse not to start it.  Right?

Just a quick share today!  Kristin & Nathan, (actually I suspect just Kristin was involved in this, lol), couldn’t find any thank you cards they liked.  (Again, not so sure Nathan cares.)  Anyway, here is the finished product.  All made of Prism Papers cardstock.

Happy Wednesday to everyone!

Election Day Freebies

  • Filed under:

Election day is quickly approaching and I see a lot of places offering free stuff to try and get people to get out and vote.  I always vote, but I know not everyone does.  This year I think it’s probably more important than ever to let your voice be heard, no matter who you are voting for!!

Here are some of the freebies… enjoy!

Rock The Vote:  Pledge to vote and get access to several MP3 downloads, including one from Maroon 5.

Starbucks is giving away a free TALL coffee if you go out and vote.  Here we don’t get proof that we voted usually, unless they are giving out stickers.  It says in the news article that your honest word is enough.

Krispy Kreme is giving away a free red, white and blue donut with proof of voting… again a sticker.

Ben & Jerry’s is giving away a free scoop of ice cream between 5-8pm.

That’s what I’ve heard about thus far.  No idea who else is offering freebies.  I think it’s pretty interesting.

In other news, a good friend of mine got married yesterday.  The wedding was a secret/intimate affair for close family really.  I did the invites, announcements and place cards.  I need to check with her to make sure I can share them and if so I’ll try to post them tomorrow.  I’ve got a busy day planned tomorrow so I might not get to it.  I’ll let you in on the big plans at the same time.  :)

It’s been crazy around here lately, (I know I say that a lot), so sorry for the delay in getting these posted.  Better late than never.  :P  At any rate, here are some photos of my class sample for the Lifetime Moments Crop of a Lifetime event.  The class and crop is being held at the Doubletree Novi.  My class is
on November 8th from 8-10pm.  Join us in creating a perpetual birthday
reminder book using My Mind’s Eye Just Dreamy 2 collection and a
combination of Maya Road’s tabbed chipboard and sheet albums.  This
book will be a great place to record the birthdays of your family and
friends all in one spot!  A fun project for yourself or to give as a
gift.  The cost is only $34.00.  Seating is limited to 24.  If you are
interested in registering drop a note to Jackie at Lifetime Moments.  (FYI Class kits are also available.)

That’s your sneak peek!  :)  Happy Wednesday everyone!

It’s been forever I know…

It’s been a long time since I blogged last.  Things have been crazy around here to say the least.  While I won’t get into all the details surrounding what has gone on because, well, it’s a long story, and I don’t know who reads this… :P  But I will say that I’ve learned a lot about people and even those that you think you know, sometimes you really don’t.  I’ve also learned that even people you’ve been estranged from for nearly 9 years, that sadly in death can still have a negative impact on your life.  What you would think would be the end of all the drama seems to just stir up more.  Enough said… vent over.

I wasn’t all that productive at Scrap Palace a couple weeks ago when Michelle and I went.  I think I did 5 layouts and started another.  I did finish up two mini albums I had been working on.  One was summer themed and the other was my wedding.  Yeah, lol, I’m just getting around to that.  I had promised myself to blog and post some scans when I got home, but I just got around to scanning them the other day.  I did put them up in my gallery, but that is about as far as I got.

Those are a couple of the ones.  Nothing all that spectacular, I was in a funny mood that weekend I guess and just not “into it.”  I haven’t been into much of anything over the last couple weeks really.  With all that has gone on over here my mood and my metal state is just about fried!

In other news, November is going to mark my return to teaching.  I had to force some time off to recover from my surgery.  Things aren’t completely back to normal, but I need to get back into the swing of things.  So, I’m delighted that my first time back I get to be part of the annual Lifetime Moments Crop of a Lifetime.  The class and crop is being held at the Doubletree Novi.  My class is on Novemeber 8th from 8-10pm.  Join us in creating a perpetual birthday reminder book using My Mind’s Eye Just Dreamy 2 collection and a combination of Maya Road’s tabbed chipboard and sheet albums.  THis book will be a great place to record the birthdays of your family and friends all in one spot!  A fun project for yourself or to give as a gift.  The cost is only $34.00.  Seating is limited to 24.  If you are interested in registering drop a note to Jackie at Lifetime Moments.

I’ll also be stating Create Cards! back up in Novemeber and will announce further details later.

Happy Tuesday!

Scrappin’

I’m sitting here at Scrap Palace with Michelle right now. I am happy to report that I have been pretty good about getting things done. I got my little mini wedding album completed for the most part and I finished up a summer album I had been working on. I’ve also got one layout done and I’m starting a second right now. :)

So while I’ve gotten all that done… Michelle has been doing a lot of starring. She seems to have this thing about starring at me while I’m concentrating. It’s flattering and kinda creepy all at the same time. :p

It’s 12:30 am right now and I miss Denny. :( This always happens. If only I could bring him along. I’m sure all the other gals would enjoy that… NOT.
